From the long gone days of the river boat rounders; through gentleman sportsman like Doc Holiday, on through to modern times, with our multi-million dollar professional poker players---Poker has remained what it always was---a business. Just as Doc Holiday proclaimed, in the 1880’s in Tombstone Territory”…Poker is an honest trade”. It remains so today.
However, the failure of the Poker profession to organize itself for the safety of the professional players, as well as for the integrity of their game, has caused poker much harm. The most serious problem has been the miscasting of Poker among chance gambling games.
The International Card & Game Players Association (ICGPA) will be addressing that oversight with the founding of our professional union. We will be providing sanctuary for our professional players, who will in turn provide sanctuary for the homeless with our weekly commitment to tackle the problem of the homeless.
